Principals Note

Principal's Message

Welcome to Arroyo Valley High School where we strive to educate, guide, and inspire not only the beautiful minds but the hearts of our students. We are comprehensive high school grades 9-12 with a great variety of academic and athletic programs. Arroyo Valley High School is home of the International Baccalaureate Program (IB); the Middle Years Program (MYP); the Advanced Placement Program (AP); the Honors Program; the Puente Program; and the Academic Decathlon Program.

Additionally, as we prepare students for college and career in the 21st century, we have implemented a number of career academies. The Teaching Academy, a California Partnership Academy (CPA) where aspiring teachers get to experience how to design and implement a lesson plans. The Core Academy, a CPA where students learn about green technology, urban planning, and habitat restoration amongst others. The Global Leadership Academy where we have blended the IB, MYP, AP, and Honors programs, maintaining separate certifications with a community action service component. The Digital Media Arts Academy where students are exposed to an ever-changing digital world with hands-on experience with the latest software and hardware.

We are proud to pilot our Visual and Performing Arts Academy (VAPA) during the 2017-2018 school year. In this academy students explore careers in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment sector. The course offerings are articulated through a four-year course of studies in two-dimensional and three-dimensional visual arts, dance, music, and theatre.

Additionally, AVHS will be launching two new career academies during the 2017-2018 school year: The Business and Logistics Academy and the Local and National Security Academy. The Business and Logistics Academy will provide students with direct connections to business partners, and provide the students with hands-on experience in business etiquette, excellent communication and technical skills, higher order thinking skills, collaboration and a high level of integrity. Students in our Local and National Security Academy will receive rigorous training in professions that enhance the safety, security, and wellness of the community and nation.

Arroyo Valley is truly a school community where students, staff, and faculty thrive in a caring and nurturing environment with high expectations and high support for all. Our faculty is highly skilled in the art of teaching, and we maintain a focus on continuous improvement based on data.

It’s truly an absolute pleasure to lead such a capable team of professionals at all levels of the organization.
